Easy Peasy Soaker in the Round

Materials:
Bulky Weight Wool (I use Cascade Eco or Cascade Eco+)
5mm circular needles
6mm circular needles
6mm straight needles

Guage over stocking stitch (ie knit every round):
12 sts = 10cm (4inches)
22 rounds = 10cm (4 inches)
Suggested needle size 6mm

Size S/M [M/L]

Cast on 64 [72] stitches with 5mm circular needle, place marker (this will be
your "side seam").
Work 15 (17 rounds) in K1P1 rib.
Switch to 6mm needles (Just start knitting onto the 6mm circulars, the 5mm will
just "drop away").
Now Work 32 [36] rounds in stocking stitch.
Put 14 [16] stitches on stitch holder,
Knit 12 [14] stitches K1P1 (or continue with Stoking Stitch if your prefer),
place these 12 [14] stitches on a stitch holder.
Place next 20 [22] stitches on stitch holder,
K1P1 (or continue with stocking stitch) next 12 [14].
Place remaining 6 stitches on first stitches holder (with first 14 [16]
stitches).
You will now have three stitch holders & one areas of stitches on your
circulars.
Transfer to 6mm straight needles.
Work 22 [26] rows K1P1 ribbing (or continue in stocking stitch if you prefer).
Kitchener stitch these 12 [14] stitches with the stitches from your second
stitch holder.
*Pick up 22 [26] stitches along inseam, transfer stitches from stitch holder to
needles, you will have 42 [48] stitches.
This will make a fairly wide leg, decrease stitches here if you wish.
Work in round for 16 rounds. Cast off in loose or stretchy manner (I find a
K1P1 or K2P2 making a stretchy bind off/cast off)**.
Repeat from * to ** for second leg.

KuKu Gwen Doll

KuKu Doll - Gwen version (named by Bre's brother)
This was inspired by the Lucy Neatby Kuku Doll.
Bre fell in love.  The normally good tempered tyke made it clear she wanted one too.
So the hunt began, the pattern was bought, wool was bought, wool was dyed, wool was knit, knit, knitted, wool was purl, purl, purled.  Stitches were sewn, limbs were stuffed, Gwen had a bath, and hair was combed, combed, combed and combed some more.
Doll was presented, and is being well loved.  Kuku Gwen definitely is well received and well loved.

Happy B'Earth Day Bre!

You guessed it....

Love at first sniff

I will admit, there is nothing better then the smell of clean line dried clothes.
The wind blowing the wet clothes to a clean crisp dry.  The smell of fresh air as you go about your day.
I am so happy to finally be able to put my clothes back outside, to put that clothesline back into use.
My only regret is I only have one line.
Children laughing and giggling as the run through sheets & towels, playing hide and seek amongst the drying clothes....okay not the greatest hiding place, but fun none the less.
AHHHHHhhh, spring.  Hope it stays!

And they all had Waffles.

Its the little things that count right?  I mean seriously, who would ever think that three children would be fighting over waffles?  To have "three" children hovering around a waffle iron waiting for the first (or next waffle) to come off the press.
What started this morning, as a simple and innocent question, because a waffle festival (sort of).
One wanted Chocolate, the other "plain", compromise is not part of their vocabulary.  So to make all fair we had "swirly" waffles (mommy is still getting the hang of that one).
So hear is the "recipe" for Swirly waffles.

Swirly Waffles: (1 recipe plain waffles, one recipe chocolate waffles)

Basic Waffles:
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1 cup milk
1 egg
Mix thoroughly in bowl.  Set aside

Chocolate Waffles:
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
2 Tbsp sugar
1 Tbsp cocoa powder
1 square unsweetened Bakers (c) chocolate
3/4 cup milk
1 egg
2 tbsp melted butter
1 tsp vanilla
Melt chocolate square & butter in microwave, in microwave safe bowl, set aside.  Combine remaining dry ingredients in bowl, set this aside. Combine milt, egg & vanilla in bowl, mix thoroughly, and then add to dry ingredients. Mix Thoroughly, add chocolate/butter mixture.  Mix thoroughly.

Now swirl chocolate & Basic Waffle batter onto waffle iron.  Follow waffle iron direction from here.

Yummy, waffles for all :)
Cheers.
